APEX USMLE PREP
PROVEN RESULTS. COMPREHENSIVE HANDS-ON TEACHING TECHNIQUES.

THE ONE

First and foremost, I give all praise to GOD, HASHEM, ALLAH, THE ALMIGHTY, THE MOST MAGNIFICENT.....HE IS ALL AND THERE IS NOTHING BUT HIM. Everything that I have is only because he put it in my life or he gave me the vision and will to seek it out. If you read this and I never meet you, or I have the actual privilege of meeting you, I want you to know that success, victory, glory are yours. All you have to do is ask & then, actively and intently seek it out. This is nothing more than a road block on your journey. Are you willing to rise to level of this incredible challenge?

REALITY CHECK

Anyone who is reading this has probably come to, at one point or another, the conclusion that the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK are among the most difficult tests out there for any professional. There are very few high-level professional tests that are 8-9 hours in length which have a focus that is seemingly endless.  Moreover, these exams combine and integrate many disciplines which require years of individual study.

In recent years, as demonstrated by the questions in the USMLE World QBank and the boards themselves, the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK, the main purpose of any student's attendance, demand a serious skill set. At the heart of this skill set is the need to be able to integrate the basic sciences and relate them to clinical scenarios. Questions are no longer one step, but rather require a tertiary level of thinking. Unless you're able to make these mental leaps by yourself, do not expect anyone at school to foster these abilities. This is one of main reasons why students shell out big bucks to review programs like Kaplan and Falcon while still continuing to fail on their first death attempt.

Hate them or love them,--personally, I tend to be more on the side of hate, but they are a necessary evil--many foreign schools, especially in the Caribbean, are behind the ball with their teaching techniques. As a result of the low costs associated with tuition, coupled with an overcharged sense of greed by the proprietors, staffing is absolutely subpar in comparison to many US schools; many of the instructors and high ranking officials at these institutions have not passed the boards, creating a situation of the blind leading the blind. Regretfully, kids are not told the virtues of practicing on the Qbanks from the outset, nor are they pointed in the direction of defining preparatory materials, such as USMLE First Aid & Master The Boards. Rather, during the course of basic sciences, they stack useless and worthless powerpoints on the heads of students. At the end of 4 semesters, they somehow figure out a way to stack more horse poop in the form of giant Kaplan textbooks and other antiquated texts. Unfortunately, living solely on the fumes of their dreams and showing blind faith, kids are not aware of doom that lies ahead while the cost of tuition, room & board, and a lack of a reliable stream of income erodes the fabric of their fragile pockets, leaving them lost and broke; this is the quintessential tale of an IMG.

ABOUT US

We work with students from all backgrounds since our goal is same. But, our specialty is dealing with IMG students. We are based out of Chicago, IL, but we have tutors across the US. Locality permitting, classes can be held in person or over the internet. Internet-based classes are completely real time. Tutors are able to share their screens containing notes and Qbanks with students. The software allows the opposite as well, making the experience easy and super convenient.

THROUGH A SYSTEMS-BASED INTERGRATIVE COURSE OF STUDY INVOLVING LIVE LECTURES AND SPECIALIZED NOTES, AS WELL AS COMPLETE HANDS-ON ONE-ON-ONE ATTENTION WITH REGARD TO APPROACHING THE RIGORS OF THE QBANKS, OUR ABSOLUTE MISSION IS TO BREAK THE WALLS SEPERATING YOU FROM YOUR ULTIMATE DREAM OF PRACTICING MEDICINE. MORE THAN ANYTHING, WE AIM TO INSTILL THE HIGHEST VIRTUES OF SELF-BELIEF, SHEER GRIT, AND DETERMINATION INTO THE FIBER OF YOUR BEING, GIVING YOU THE WINGS TO FLY TO YOUR DESTINY.

SERVICES

  1. 01
Subjects will be taught in a systems-based format which mirrors the actual exam. This means that a topic such as Renal/Urinary will be taught from the ground up. All of the physiology, pathophysiology, pathology, pharmacology, and microbiology of that topic will be dissected and reassembled into a beautiful mental map. We are not Kaplan. We push you to know the entire picture of the relevant subjects, allowing you to navigate around whatever the boards throw at you.
    INTEGRATIVE TEACHING METHODS
  2. 02
We do not believe in taking a student’s money, dumping useless and endless notes on them, and expecting them to figure it out when the time comes to do questions. The sword is not simply given to you. Rather, we teach you how to slice and dice your way through the QBanks. This is done through, unlike many other preparatory programs, complete hands-on one-on-one attention. Students are taught strong test taking techniques and forced to arrive at the answer before even looking at the options.

In order to determine a student’s standing and preparation, we use the closest test simulations possible, the NBMEs. These exams are made and sold by the same people who control the boards. Thus, not only is their appearance the same as the actual test, but they also have the same question formats and topic distributions. Diagnostic exams will be taken every 2-3 weeks and you will see yourself rise to the point where we feel you are ready. At that time, we will help you select a proper date and testing center, give you our blessing, and send you off to play an awesome life-changing game for 8-9 hours. You will also share your diagnostic exams with the instructor, so we can show the types of leaps we have made with students.

Pricing

It is difficult to determine the overall cost of our services. We are not a regimented review program. You will not sit in auditorium with 300 other students. Each student requires complete individual attention —the mainstay of our service--and a tailored program that suits their needs. As such, some people require more than others. We absolutely have to speak with you in order to get an understanding of your needs, expectations, and background. From there, we can offer you an estimate and set up a trial. But, more than anything, it is essential that you feel comfortable with your instructor and truly connect with him/her. Without that, there is no progress. You have to and you will leave your appointments with more knowledge than you initially came with, a clear course of preparation which will be dictated by the instructor, and an understanding that you are on the right track—zero confusion.

  1. I graduated medical school in India. My dream has always been to practice medicine in the US. I struggled with the boards, failing on more than one occasion. I was desperate and hungry for change, as I did not want to give up. The help that I received from Apex USMLE Prep rehabilitated that dream. They truly care about each of their students because we share the same passion. I was never looked at as a dollar bill. I finally passed with a great score that I can be proud of. Now, I am preparing for Step 3—praise GOD.

  2. I started as a Caribbean student with big wide eyes and even bigger expectations of my medical career. But, with the crappy bargain basement education that I received, the boards have a way of dashing those types of things. I came across Apex USMLE Prep after hearing about it from a friend. I decided to try a class and was immediately hooked. I never saw the connections until the tutors broke everything down for me. But, it was the direct help that I got on the Qbanks that made all the difference. I highly recommend their services to any student facing confusion and/or failure

  3. I took Kaplan for MD 5. It was the greatest waste of time and money ever. I finished the semester not knowing up from down. At the end, all I had was stack of books with post-its inside of them. I know I’m not the only one to have this experience. I knew I needed help putting the ideas together and understanding what information was relevant to question writers. Thankfully, I found Apex USMLE Prep. They worked closely with me. After 8 weeks of prep and guidance, I passed. Now, I am preparing for Step 2 CK with their help.

  4. I did not know where to even begin when I started the prep process. I looked at the First Aid, but it only made me dizzy. It was just a collection of loose facts. There was no connective tissue. The tutors at Apex broke that mold of study. Above everything, they taught me how to think and approach questions. I was able to reach a point where I wasn’t struggling to memorize details.
